A breakout that won't clear. Hair thinning faster than it used to. None of that improves from another product bought on a whim — it needs an actual diagnosis, and that's the gap Dr. Premalatha V, MD Dermatology, has spent 16+ years closing at PRALASH Dermystique & Dentique.

Overview

What does a dermatologist treat?

More than most people assume. Rashes and pimples are the obvious cases, but the list runs longer — pigmentation, eczema, psoriasis, fungal infections, hair fall, dandruff, cosmetic work like fine lines or lost volume. A nail that's changed colour belongs here too, and so does a mole that looks a little off compared to last year.

Some of it's strictly medical. Some is purely aesthetic. A lot lives in between the two, and sorting out which is which is most of the actual work — the exact same breakout on two people can trace back to two different causes.

Conditions

Skin, hair & nail conditions we treat

Acne scarring. Melasma. Eczema, psoriasis, vitiligo. Fungal infections of the skin and nails come in regularly too, along with hair thinning in men and women, premature greying, and the odd nail change tied to something happening elsewhere in the body.

Ask a dermatologist for hair loss what's actually behind it, and the honest answer usually depends on who's asking. Diet, stress, thyroid history, family pattern — rarely is it one thing alone.

Timing

When should you see a dermatologist?

Give a skin issue six to eight weeks with basic care, ordinary cleanser and moisturiser, nothing fancy. If it hasn't shifted by then, that's not the moment to try something stronger. It's the moment to get it looked at.

A handful of things don't get that grace period — see opposite.

!Hair coming out in noticeably bigger clumps than usual.
!A mole that's started looking different — in shape, size, or colour.
!A rash spreading fast, or one that actually hurts.
!Dandruff that won't quit no matter the shampoo — usually a named scalp condition, not stubborn dryness.

What happens during a consultation?

It starts with questions, not a prescription pad.

2
The Exam

Under proper light, sometimes magnified if the skin calls for a closer look.

3
Scraping or Swab, If Needed

To rule out a fungal cause, or check for infection.

4

Meet Our Dermatologist

Dr. Premalatha V,
MD Dermatology

Dr. Premalatha has 16+ years in dermatology and is now one of Bangalore's established names in cosmetic dermatology, hair restoration, and evidence based skin science. PRALASH Dermystique, the clinic she founded in 2014, runs on one belief: good aesthetic results come from sound medical judgment first, not a shortcut.

Her training runs deep — MBBS from Ambedkar Medical College, Bangalore; a postgraduate degree in Dermatology from JJ Medical College, Davangere; and a Fellowship in Dermatosurgery at St John's Medical College. Years in trichology built her name as a hair specialist people travel across the city for, and that focus led her to write a book on the lifestyle factors behind hair loss.

Why PRALASH?

Why choose PRALASH Dermystique & Dentique?

Dr. Premalatha personally examines every patient before recommending anything, medical or purely cosmetic, no exceptions. No treatment gets pulled off a generic checklist. Pricing gets explained before you're in the chair, not after.

Skin, hair, and dental care sit under one roof here too, so a related concern doesn't mean starting over at a different clinic — that's the model this practice runs on.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Anything that comes in contact with skin, hair, and nails. Acne, eczema, hair loss, fungal infections, pigmentation, fine lines, etc.

If the itchy, irritated skin or scalp hasn't improved after 6-8 weeks, or hair loss is definitely more than usual.

Yes, and the first step is to find out why it's happening. There are hormonal, nutritional, and genetic causes all of which take a different route.

Most patients everyday concerns revolve around acne, hyperpigmentation, eczema, psoriasis, infections, and all the cosmetic treatments that aggravate them.

They do. The first step is confirming it's genuinely fungal, usually a quick scraping or swab, before treatment starts.

No, it's an exam and a conversation. A procedure like an injection or peel might bring mild discomfort at most.

Depends on what is being observed and whether post test is added. The exact number will be notified prior to the appointment.

Acne can shift within weeks. Hair restoration takes longer, usually months. Both are safe once the diagnosis is right.
